Use the synergies

タイ, 2012年, インラック·シナワトラ

In 2011 Yingluck Shinawatra became Thailand’s first woman prime minister. Although she comes from a political family — her father was a member of parliament and her elder brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, was prime minister from 2001 to 2006 — her background is in business, not politics.

Last year she gave an interview in English to Deutsche Welle, a German broadcaster. In places, for example at 06:49 (below), she still sounds a little bit more like a business person than a politician.

The ten members of ASEAN want to form a single market by 2015.

Why is this strategic move so important?

We believe we can use the synergies together and see the ASEAN as one market. So we’ll be a very attractive region for other countries to invest.

Note: synergy has been defined as “links between business units that result in additional value creation”.
