It’s a strange thing

英国, 2013年, ダニエル·デイ=ルイス

Daniel Day-Lewis was in the news this week. The British star of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln became the first person to win the Oscar for best actor three times.

His acceptance speech was well-prepared and modest. It was funny, too.

At 0:26 he makes a joke about himself and Meryl Streep, who presented the award to him (and who won the 2011 ‘best actress’ Oscar for playing Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady).

It’s a strange thing, because three years ago, before we decided to do a straight swap, I had actually been committed to play Margaret Thatcher.

And Meryl was Steven’s first choice for Lincoln.

And I’d like to see that version.
